Honey Bee on Lavender Blossoms

We were away on vacation for a couple of weeks and returned just before New Year's Eve.

It was such a nice welcome sight in the garden - a couple of honey bees getting nectar from blossoms on the lavender shrubs.

Proof how important it is to deadhead and and prune dried branches on lavender shrubs throughout the year. The shrubs will keep producing new blossoms, providing nourishment for the bees and butterflies throughout the year.

I only really figured this out a few years ago.

Now the honey bees are in the garden all year round.
