More monarchs

August 27, 2018

We are still releasing monarchs as they eclose / emerge and are ready for their adventures outdoors.

Each one reacts a little differently when released.

For example this female decided after it climbed out of the hamper,  that Tony's sleeve seemed like a good place to rest in the sun.

And walked up his sleeve until it was ready to take flight.

Note the unusual stripes around the edges of this female's wings, just at the end of its abdomen.

Normally these would be dots.

Anything can happen while they are developing at any stage, whether egg, caterpillar, or chrysalis.

This male is warming its body and wings in the sun after walking out of the hamper.
