Our first Pandora poppy


Here is the first bloom of our Pandora poppy Papaver rhoeas plant.

I'm so thrilled to see the poppy blooming in one of the patio plant beds, because the slugs all but destroyed the other Pandora poppy seedling that I planted in the winter.

The colors of the petals can vary on each flower, ranging from pinkish red with silvery stripes to deep burgundy. As you can see, this poppy is such a bright contrast to other plants in the bed, including the Heuchera Marmalade plant directly to the right of the poppy.
