Lovely honey bees

Slowly but surely our Verbena lilacina "De La Mina", a California native, is growing and blooming.

It is said to mainly attract butterflies, but so far I only have seen honey bees on the blossoms.

I mainly plant basil every summer because I love to eat Pesto alla Genovese on pasta, or mixed into soups. But the plants tend to bolt in no time, producing lovely white flowers.

I could prune the plant back severely for a lusher plant.

But since the honey bees are very fond of the pollen the flowers produce, I simply let the flowers grow, and buy more basil plants.
