native blooms in the front yard

May 9, 2017

Now our efforts to transform the front yard are starting to be rewarded.

The coreopsis grandiflora "Sunburst" is blooming, and what a burst of cheer it brings!

It tolerates clay soil and drought conditions, and should bloom through the Fall, as long as I keep deadheading.

It also benefits bees, which is the main reason why I planted it.

And here is one of our two Penstemon heterophyllus X 'Margarita BOP'  plants with its lovely bluish lavender blooms.

This lovely native penstemon provides nectar for butterflies and hummingbirds.

It should bloom year-round as long as the faded blooms are trimmed off.
