The naked buckwheat is blooming and attracting local pollinators

The naked buckwheat plant is now in bloom, and for the first time in several years, I observed a hairstreak butterfly in our garden.

This is so exciting, because I've only seen one before on the tree lavatera in the front garden, and that was several years ago.

At first I thought this was a cabbage moth, but because it is smaller, I took a closer look.

This must be a case of "it you plant it, they will come".

Here it is feeding on the nectar of naked buckwheat buds.

Honey bees are also enjoying the blossoms.
