Fruit in season

It's that time of year for lots of citrus, apples and persimmons!

I was never a big fan of persimmons, but now I like to eat them thinly sliced in salads. They add a little crunch and lots of color to mixed greens in a light vinaigrette.

In spite of the stubborn, ongoing invasion of white fly on the Lisbon lemon tree, the tree is still producing a lot of fruit. We feel very fortunate and are doing our best to keep the tree healthy.

Hopefully the rain washes off any remaining white fly eggs, and the cooler temperatures finally end the invasion.

We're keeping our fingers crossed that the tree survives.
