Red salvia blossoms

At this time of year most plants are dormant, but suddenly, after the rain last week, there are new blooms in the garden.

All this year two of the red salvia shrubs barely produced any flowers, but now there are brilliant crimson blossoms popping up (image above). What a treat for the hummingbirds!

Lavatera

Just when I decided to prune the huge lavatera shrub I discovered new blossoms and buds. So it looks like I need to wait until December.
