Mid-flight to food

Yesterday I took this image of a cabbage moth flying to a patch of lobelia. These are some of the same lobelia plants I dug out of the hard clay soil between bricks a few months ago, when the lobelia plants were seedlings 1/2" to 1" high. Lobelia plants reseed themselves, and its quite amazing how those tiny seeds survive and sprout in our soil that's almost like cement.

The intense blue colored lobelias such as Riviera Blue and Blue Moon attract both bees and butterflies.
