In a few weeks we will be living in another house.

I am sad to leave the place that has been my home for the past 18 years, but it is time for a change.

We will still be living in the same part of the Bay Area, but higher in the hills.

It will be a new challenge.

Shortly after the flock of bushtits left the birdbath, I added more water to the bath.

Within a few minutes a male house finch arrived and hopped into the bath.

The finch walked around in the birdbath, and then suddenly.......

I love to have flowers indoors, as well.

Because the plants in the garden are mainly meant to provide nourishment for our local pollinators, I purchase organically grown flowers from our Farmers' Market.

The sparrows are back again in the garden and surrounding neighbors' yards.

They seem to arrive early fall and stay throughout the winter.

And they are frequently at the bird bath, drinking the water and bathing.

Above, a white crowned sparrow just finished drinking from...

Looking for the praying mantis this weekend, I observed this leaf cutter bee flying around the rosemary hedge, sipping on the nectar of the blossoms.

No, I didn't see the praying mantis.

Maybe it's been hiding in the depths of the hedge.

But the leaf cutter bee was certai...
